10 Ways to Make Money on Social Media
Social media can be one of the best ways to make money online, but it’s not as simple as signing up to an affiliate program and then doing nothing else. To really earn money on social media, you need to put in time and energy, engaging with followers and consistently offering high-quality content that will keep them coming back for more. That said, there are some steps you can take to get the ball rolling and begin making money from your social media profiles today! Here are 10 ways to earn money from social media platforms today.
1) Facebook Groups
There are more than 5,000 Facebook groups devoted to selling. One of my favorite places for buying products is in Facebook Groups. I’ve purchased everything from computer hardware to workout gear using Facebook Marketplace. Join a few relevant groups and make posts offering a price you’re willing to pay or offering your own product at a desired price.
2) Twitter
You can generate money from Twitter by promoting products, advertising yourself or your content, running contests and giveaways and more. To use Twitter for marketing successfully, you’ll want to be selective about who you choose as followers, since that can make a big difference in how effective your platform is. Before following anyone else, follow people that interest you — relevant accounts will help keep your feed relevant and interesting. This could also lead to genuine relationships with potential leads, which may lead to sales opportunities down the road.
3) Instagram
Instagram allows you to post 15-second videos that users can then heart (like) or sneer (hate). The popularity of your photos translates into cash, and because Instagram stories automatically disappear after 24 hours, there is a lot less pressure when sharing than with other platforms.
4) YouTube
YouTube is one of best sites to make money with your videos. You can become a partner, which means you can monetize all your views through their ads. If you have more than 1,000 subscribers, you can apply for their partner program. When they accept your application, and you are approved by YouTube, they will place ads on your videos.
5) Facebook
Create and maintain a Facebook page or business profile. Set up an ad to generate leads from interested parties. Use it as a platform for sharing interesting content and keeping customers engaged. You can also target an audience based on age, location, interests or other demographic criteria. It’s best not to use your personal profile for business purposes; create a separate one just for that purpose if you don’t have one already, so you can keep your information professional.
6) Pinterest
While Pinterest has been getting some flack lately for being a lot of hot air and not much substance, it’s still worth mentioning as a potential source of revenue. The potential audience is huge, especially if you focus on visual content (e.g., photos or videos) that are easily shared across various social networks. Many e-commerce sites will pay anywhere from $20-$80 for someone with a good following to pin an image or link to one of their products.
7) Snapchat
Snapchat made headlines earlier in 2016 when they announced their Snapcash feature, which allows users to instantly transfer money over Snapchat. In partnership with Square, you can send or receive funds from friends through your connected debit card.
8) Tumblr
If you have a passion for writing, creating, photography or another creative field, Tumblr could be a good platform for making money. There are also niche options like theme blogging and microblogging that can help you build up a following (and followers) if your content is interesting enough. And even though it’s called micro-blogging, Tumblr can still pack a lot of information into each post.
9) Google+
You may not be able to monetize your page, but you can absolutely drive traffic from Google+, which could lead to a healthy boost in revenue. Google’s Facebook clone is one of its most popular services, and even though it doesn’t have quite as many users as Facebook yet, they are sharing and interacting with more content than ever before. Get in front of them and make sure you grab their attention.
10)Forums
Selling on forums is one of my favorite ways to make a bit of cash in my spare time. Sites like Craigslist and eBay can work well for selling products, but if you’re looking for more local exposure, try forums! For example, if you’re based in New York City and wanted to sell an old couch from your apartment, it might be worth reaching out on a neighborhood forum first. There are also sites like InboxDollars which offer quick surveys for money online.
